A study by Harris Interactive finds:
- 86% of U.S. adults that are on line have used a search engine to research another person
- 75% of U.S. adults on line have searched their own name (almost half say results were negative; 30% found no online presence at all)
- 31% of U.S. adults online have looked up a politician on line (over half say the research influenced their decision)
- Of those U.S. adults who have researched another person online, 42^ have researched a company or individual before doing business with them (over 45% of them found something that made them decide NOT to do business)
